Amy & Ellen’s Grass-fed, grass-finished
Beef graze
native foothill pastures from 5,800 feet up to fresh mountain grass
at 9,000 feet elevation in Larimer County. The result is content cattle
that produce great tasting, healthy meat. A partnership between
the Stubborn Mule Ranch & TAW Cattle Company, we have been raising
natural Angus-crossbred beef for 15 years directly serving local consumers
along the Colorado Front Range.
Our cattle harvest their own fresh grass
in native pasture. We
occasionally provide supplemental hay, to insure a natural and healthy
diet. Managed grazing is vitally important to us in an effort
to benefit our rangeland. We use humane methods to herd our cattle
frequently, and holistically maintain our grasslands that also feed
local and migrating wildlife.
We sell whole, half and quarters of beef. A limited supply of select
cuts and burger are also available. The meat is ready for pickup, or delivery
can be arranged from October to December. We are not certified organic
but raise only forage-fed (no grain, no corn), hormone- and antibiotic-free
meat. Our tender and deliciously flavored beef is lean and nutritious,
providing known health benefits that only grass-fed animals can produce.
Orders may be made by phone or by filling in
our website order form and emailing it to us. Our meat is dry aged
for 14-21 days and is USDA inspected. We
process our animals at a small plant located in Evans, CO. Please

Arriola
Sunshine Farm raises Navajo-Churro Sheep, Bourbon Red turkeys,
lettuce, fruits and other produce. We direct market grass-fed Churro lamb to
individuals. Our turkeys are sold as live birds only. Contact
us to be placed on our list for USDA Navajo Churro lamb, breeding
stock or live turkeys. We also offer registered animals, raw fleeces,
carded wool, felt and skins.
We are in the business of harvesting solar energy
and sequestering carbon with green plants. Our mission is to create healthy
land, healthy animals, healthy people, and a healthy economy. Nature
guides us as we practice Holistic Management of our resources. Navajo-Churro
lamb is lower in fat than commercial breeds. Cool mountain air, healthy
soils, clean water, and healthy grass contribute to our unique tender “sweet” flavor.
We do not feed antibiotics or growth hormones to
any of our livestock. Navajo-Churro Sheep are resistant to worms and
retain natural lambing instincts, requiring less medical care than commercial
breeds. We feed hay as needed in the winter. We provide humane care including
vaccinations and de-worming as necessary. Our birds and sheep are happy!

B Bar S Ranch is
a beef cattle ranching operation with two family-owned Colorado locations
in the scenic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Our high mountain
pasture in Nederland, CO has been family owned since 1968 and our high
plains ranch south of Elizabeth, CO has been family-owned and operated
since 1990.
The beef that we provide will have been fed
over the summer on grass in the high mountain pasture. Our cattle are
not given any growth hormones or antibiotics. They live healthy lives
with exercise, plenty of grass, fresh mountain spring water and open
space. We take precautions to never overgraze our land and use a rotational
grazing system to keep the feed fresh and loaded with nutrition.
We sell beef to our customers in early September
of every year. There is a minimum order of 1/4 of a beef. The best way
to order is to split a half with someone you know. We will help you with
communicating the specifics to the packer so the meat gets cut and packed
to the specifications best for your family needs. Currently we have our
beef processed at Arapahoe Packing in Lafayette, CO.

operated in Fort Collins, Colorado since 1978. We raise quality grass
fed beef that has no antibiotic or hormones.
We raise our cattle in the
summer months on pasture in Tie Siding, Wyoming and bring them down to
Fort Collins during winter months and feed them home grown hay. We sell
the cattle live, but charge by hanging weight of the carcass. The meat
gets processed in Kersey, Colorado at Steving Meats.
We try
to have meat ready year round but at times it takes 60 to 90 days, so
put your order in early. We are not certified, but all of our products
are naturally raised.
We strive to make sure that the consumer gets what
they want and is 100% satisfied. We treat our animals humanely and only

The Edmundson Ranch is a working family
ranch in southeastern Colorado that proudly offers customers our exceptional
quality grass-fed, grass-finished, all-natural beef.
Our beef are free of: grains, antibiotics, growth
hormones, steroids, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and animal by-product
feeds.
The Edmundson Ranch thinks consumers have every right
to know where their meat comes from and what is put into it. After several
family members, including our young children, were diagnosed with multiple
food allergies, we became very concerned with the quality and content
of store-bought meats. We started keeping back some of our own calves
and grass-finishing them for ourselves and are now proud to offer the
same wholesome beef to our customers.
We go the extra step and offer our customers the
opportunity to come out to the ranch and pick out their own beef. They
are welcome to visit periodically to watch for themselves as their beef
is grown and finished the all-natural way.
We sell wholes, halves and sometimes quarters directly
to our customers and deliver the live beef to the customer's choice of
processors within 100 miles for free. Pickup and delivery of the meat
is possible for an additional fee.

The Farm at Sunrise Ranch raises 100% grassfed beef using Holistic
Management principles and low-stress methods, rotating our cattle to
new pasture every day.

family-owned, USDA-inspected facilities and is dry-aged for at least
14 days. The meat is then vacuum-packed and frozen.
Beef is available in variety packs as
well as in customized whole, half, and split quarter beeves. We also
sell individual cuts at local farmers’ markets and at our farm

season is generally from the beginning of summer to late fall. Beef
variety packs may be available year-round depending on inventory.

Green Place Ranch raises natural grassfed beef in
SouthWest Colorado on the Uncompaghre Plateau.
We are a sustainable operation using solar power
for all of our infrastructure requirements. This includes water pumping,
ranch headquarters, home and office. We practice rotational grazing on
the 320 acre ranch and on the 4,500 acres of grazing surrounding the
ranch.
We raise our beef using only pasture and ranch raised
stored forage (hay). We use no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, hormones,
grain or grain based feed in raising these animals. We do not confinement
feed, and all of our animals are raised in a low stress, open environment.
We sell halves and wholes directly to our customers,
with processing by both state- and USDA-inspected facilities, as chosen
by the customer. We deliver to the processor and the customer picks up
their order when ready.
We are based on Colorado's Western Slope and are
happy to serve customers within a 300 mile radius. We have our own USDA
approved label (granted in May of 2007) and are providing selected local
(our 300 mile radius) natural and health food stores with our products
on a piece/cut basis.
Individual customers will enjoy a considerable discount
from piece prices by purchasing by the half or whole. If you wish to
buy a half, we can match you up with another customer that also wishes
a half. We are also now selling Beef Paks in $250 and $500 orders. These
are an assortment of ground beef and primal cuts, steaks and roasts.
We are just now beginning construction of the first
of 6 greenhouses, 30' X 40' each, in which we will be raising clean healthy
produce and we will also have eggs, chickens and turkeys this
year to be offered at the Montrose Farmers market or available from the
ranch directly to the customer on a pre-order/pick-up basis.
Give us a call for more information. We generally
have a couple of animals available at any given time, or available within
a reasonable pre-order time.

Grunniens Ranch is committed to the
development of the finest yaks for breeding stock, companions,
and the production of a healthy and delicious meat, on a sustainable
grass-based ranch. Our pastures are located on the high prairies of
Elbert County, Colorado.
Our yaks are not given low level antibiotics or growth
hormones. Pound for pound, yaks need one third the used sunshine (grass)
as their domestic cattle cousins, making sustainability goals that much
closer.
The cliche says "Once you go Yak, you'll never
go back!" and that's pretty close. Yak is a great alternative to
beef and bison. It is a naturally lean, low in fat, with a healthy fat
profile. In addition to their outstanding meat, yaks provide wonderful
fiber and are excellent pack animals.
We take custom orders anytime but are finding it
difficult to keep up with demand. Please call for availability.

Hanover Dexter Cattle Company at Rockin'
B Ranch began raising grass-fed, organic (non-certified), registered
Dexter cattle on 100 acres nearly 10 years ago. We soon discovered
that independent taste tests and nutritional research demonstrated
that Dexter beef had exceptional taste and tenderness and outstanding
nutritional benefits as compared to larger breeds—even Angus.
We still sell by the half and whole, but with fewer families having
a dedicated freezer, we began selling Dexter beef in small packages
and shipping throughout the U.S.
Our animals graze native pastures of eastern Colorado
and are fed a variety of native hays during the winter months. As stewards
of nature we never administer antibiotics or growth hormones to our cattle
nor ever use chemicals on the land. By moving the herd every 5 days during
the growing season we allow the grasses to recover and rejuvenate; the
cattle consistently drink from fresh water sources year-round. Spring
calves are born in the pastures as nature intended. Cattle are never
confined and fed grain or similar supplemental feed unless a customer
requests grain-finished and purchases the entire animal.
We have daily contact with all our animals. That
familiarity creates a herd that is gentle and contented, resulting in
more flavorful meat. The short distance to the USDA processing plant
in Colorado Springs reduces the stress of transportation. We ship our
variety packaged meat in reusable insulated boxes with reusable freezer
bricks, eliminating any chemical concerns with dry-ice. Please contact
us for delivery options.
Beef is usually processed in October/November when
they are about 20 months of age. Please do not wait until the Fall
to order as quantities are limited.

Hollingsworth Land and Cattle is the United
States' first premiere entire herd subjected to the insight and holistic
forethought of anticipating the coming revolution in the ranch-direct
supply of extraordinarily fine beef to consumers.
Hollingsworth cattle have been at the forefront of
genetic testing supplied by Bovigen Solutions (Australia) and their ground-breaking
efforts to identify and isolate two additional genes (calpain and calpastatin)
responsible for post mortem tenderization. This test is for two separate
and independent markers of tenderness after the meat has been dry aged.
Thus we guarantee our meat to be as tender as the next animal's. The
quality, taste and traceability of origin of the product is truly unsurpassed.
Hollingsworth cattle are Genestar rated #2 or above
and surpass all prime USA export qualifications. No one can compete with
the early lead taken in advancing the science and art of producing meat—be
it steak or burger—that is consistently tender. We promise unconditionally
to supply a product that is the envy of the industry and a compliment
to the palate. We guarantee the highest nutritional values, without added
hormones, no steroids, no antibiotics of any kind, no animal byproducts,
no farmed or synthetic feeds, and no salts or water added. Our meat is
hand trimmed and flash frozen in portion controlled cuts that are vacuum
cryovac packaged and delivered straight to you from the ranch.
In keeping with our tradition of value-ing the land,
the soil, the grass, and the health of the animal and its overall happiness,
we take great pleasure in supplying a product of unusual dimension and
flavor. We have invested considerable time and money to be able to say, "this
is how real beef used to taste."
We invite and expect your comparison. Our cost per
edible portion is your assurance of best dollar spent. Thank you

Indian Ridge Farm & Bakery, located
at 7,000 feet in elevation, is a 100-acre diversified farm operation
that includes grass-fed pastured poultry, layer hens, hogs, turkeys,
beef cattle, horses, vegetable garden, greenhouse, a bakery, and hay
pasture.
The farm is situated outside Norwood, CO, on a mesa-top
in the beautiful San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, near Telluride.
The farm markets its products via direct sales to customers in Norwood,
Telluride and the surrounding region, and through farmer’s markets
(see Colorado Beyond the Farm).
The farm is also offering 25-35 CSA memberships this season. We utilize
the grass pastures that have been established here in the region for
the past 100 years.
We encourage our customers to always seek out and
buy locally produced foodstuffs, especially if they are grass-fed. The
benefits are numerous: a strengthening of agrarian communities; the overall
ecosystem benefits; the consumer is severing the umbilical cord from
the corporate giants; sustainable food systems are created; open space
is preserved. Perhaps most importantly, as a consumer of locally produced
foods, you connect to the land and the soil in a special and intimate
way otherwise not available.

James Ranch. Three generations of James’s
and their families welcome the accelerated interest in their grassed-based,
organically, locally produced meats, cheese, vegetables & flowers,
eggs, and trees. All our products are sustainably grown
on the ranch we have stewarded for forty-eight years in the Animas
Valley, 10 miles north of Durango, Colorado.
We currently sell 100% grass-fed and finished beef,
from Red Angus cows—by the side or by the steak—never away
from our supervision until on your grill. Our artisan cheeses are
made of raw milk from our Jersey cows raised and milked right on the
ranch. We’ve been making these distinctive cheeses over eight years;
they stand alone among Colorado homestead cheeses. Our pastured chickens
produce brown & green eggs sought after by our local customers
for their outstanding taste. We devote six acres to growing vegetables,
flowers, and fruits that defy the imagination and short growing
season of our high mountain valley. We don’t expect our customers
to eat our spruce trees, but recommend these mature, naturally grown,
native trees for your landscape needs.
Both our beef herd and dairy herd are completely
grass based. All of our animals are raised without the use of chemical
fertilizers, pesticides, hormones or antibiotics. We strongly believe
in farming and ranching sustainably and improving the land whenever possible.
We love to have our customers see what we do and learn of our holistic
practices that support the healthy land, crops, animals, and families.
During the summer from June thru October we have guided tours two days
per week, using an electric cart for ease of transport and enjoyment.
Our products are available at our own Ranch Market
(Open M-F, 11:00-6:00, May-Oct. and open Saturdays 1-4:30, during the

The Lazy P Ranch in
northern Colorado offers a very unique way to put naturally
raised, home-grown beef on the family table. The cattle
are born on the ranch and are raised without the use of chemicals,
hormones, or antibiotics. The cattle at the Lazy P Ranch
are allowed to graze freely with minimal confinement as they
are rotated through irrigated pastures. This practice keeps
both the cattle and the pasture in top condition at all times
by never putting either in a stressful situation.
Families visit the ranch and pick an individual
calf that will be tagged with their name. As the animal matures on the
grass pasture, it is supplemented with quality, home-grown feed. Families
are encouraged to visit the ranch throughout the feeding process and
watch as their beef is grown and finished to optimal weight and condition.
When a family's animal approaches the end of the feeding process, the
family works one on one with the meat processor of their choice to ensure
they receive the cuts and package weights that best fit their needs.
Since the Lazy P herd is relatively small, each animal is given the best
care possible with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity.

Maytag Mountain Ranch cattle:
organically raised, grass-finished beef. A truly exceptional
taste experience marrying natural goodness with tender robust
flavor.
Our cattle are born and raised in the beautiful Wet
Mountain Valley in the shadow of Colorado's spectacular Sangre de Cristo
Mountains. Maytag Mountain Ranch's 2953 acres are lush and green; its
days warm and nights cool. Our management intensive rotation grazing
system ensures they have plenty of fresh, protein rich grass to eat.
Our pastures are never artificially fertilized. Our
cattle drink ice-cold spring water—so clean and pure it has been
tested safe for people to drink. We NEVER use hormones and NEVER use
antibiotics. Our cattle are not taken to the feedlot to be "finished." Instead
they fatten on natural grass, the way nature intended.
Maytag Mountain Ranch Beef has higher levels of Omega
3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of heart disease, and which may reduce
the risk of cancer. It is lower in total fat than beef from conventionally
raised (corn finished) cattle, resulting in fewer calories. This makes
our beef a wonderful, healthy food for people and, best of all, it tastes
great! For more information visit our website.

At the Oswald Cattle
Company, we raise our animals at the foot of the
Sangre De Cristo mountains, where our cattle harvest the
sun. Our goal is to bring you quality beef with
great taste and the health benefits that come from eating
an all-natural product. Our animals continually eat from "nature's
salad bar,"
receiving a diet rich in legumes and natural grasses that
are converted into a high protein, healthy meal. We use management
intensive grazing techniques in an effort to mimic the way
nature used to do it, changing pastures frequently, allowing
our grass to rest and regrow.
Our calves are born and raised at home, processed
locally, and then aged to ensure taste and tenderness. We treat our animals
humanely, and do not use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides
on our pastures. We do not treat our grassfat calves with antibiotics,
synthetic growth hormones, nor feed animal by-products. We offer whole
carcasses, halves, and split halves. We also offer a variety pack as
well as ground beef. Inquiries are welcome. Brochures are available on
request.

Pine Cliff Ranch is located in the foothills
near Castle Rock, Colorado, on an historic 3,900-acre ranch. Fresh air,
healthy soils, clean water, native grass, and low stress combine to make
our beef the best
you will ever eat.
Our cattle are raised on nothing but grass and
their mother’s milk, so you can be assured that there will never
be ANY trace of growth hormones or antibiotics in our beef. Because
we finish our beef on grass, it is much higher than grain-finished beef
in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), Omega 3 fatty acids, and Vitamin E
and much lower in saturated fats and cholesterol.
Our beef is processed
in an official USDA-inspected plant located less than 15 miles from our
Ranch, so you can also be assured that you are eating a truly local product.
Our beef is available in early summer and in the fall which ensures that
it is truly grass finished. We currently sell split halves, halves
and full beef orders.
Delivery is available within 50 miles of

Princess Beef was
started in 1999 with a cow named Princess. Raised by Cynthia
and the Allen Ranch, it was with her and her calves that
the idea of selling HOMEGROWN, RANGE-FINISHED BEEF was
created.
Princess Beef is range-finished, healthy lean beef
raised where caring for and continually improving the environment are
primary concerns. It is beef grown on organic pastures where NO insecticides,
herbicides, or commercial fertilizers are employed. The meat is produced
without antibiotics or hormones, never confined in a feedlot, and never
grain fattened. Princess Beef is raised predator-friendly—no mountain
lions or coyotes are killed to produce Princess Beef.
The beef is sold in whole, half, or split quarters.
Putting your name on a reserve list is essential. Beef is ready in October.
Pick up your meat at the ranch or delivery in Colorado is $.40 per mile
roundtrip per pickup load.

Reverse K Bar Ranch
LLP started raising beef in Plateau Valley
in 1972. Since then we have tried to produce the best tasting
meat possible, as well as the clean, natural and lean beef
that many people are looking for.
But what does clean, natural, and lean really mean?
To us, clean and natural means no hormones, no antibiotics, no pesticides,
no herbicides, plus a calm, humane end to life. Life means that the animal
is raised at our home ranch at 6,000 feet on grass pasture, irrigated
with water from the Grand Mesa, in the summer; in the winter, they are
fed hay from our fields. No grains are ever fed. That makes for lean,
full-flavored meat without the residues of chemicals used on most feed
grains and the fat that grains produce.
We sell whole animals and can generally find someone
for you to share with so you can buy half a beef. Collbran Locker does
an excellent job of aging and cutting the meat. They still dry age beef—something
that is not done much anymore because it takes time to do correctly.
Dry aging makes for full flavored, tender meat. They also custom cut
to your individual needs. We are happy to help you decide how you want
your meat cut and packaged.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss any questions
you might have.

Rio Culebra High Mountain Beef is owned by cattle
producers located in the foothills of the beautiful Sangre De Cristo
Mountain Range in Costilla County, Colorado. Our cattle are grass-fed,
and exceed USDA Grass-Fed Standards.
Our producers do not administer antibiotics or growth
hormones. Cattle receive no GMO feed, and are raised in a humane manner.
They are pastured in the mountains and in the high mountain valley meadows,
on alfalfa and native grasses. Our products are beyond organic, but are
not certified organic.
Cattle are harvested between 600 to 900 pounds, then
the carcass is dry-aged to enhance flavor and tenderness. The beef is
extremely tender and delicious—as close to veal as you are going

beef I have ever tasted!."
"It is so tender!" "You can even cut a round steak with

At Rockin J Cattle, we try to
maintain a balance in our production model, simulating what
occurs in nature. From calving in sync with the local wildlife,
to utilizing grazing methods which mimic the predator – prey
relationship that occurred in nature thousands of years ago.
We herd our cattle, using temporary electric fences,
simulating the herding effects caused by a predator. By managing the
grazing patterns of the animals, the nutrient cycle is complete,as 99%
of what the cattle take from the land is returned, resulting in increased
levels of carbon in the soil. This cycling of nutrients allows us to
forego the application of fertilizers to our fields.
Whereas others strive to finish their beef within
18 months, we strive to finish our beef within 24-30 months of age. Just
as a fine wine develops its flavor with age, I believe that this also
contributes to the flavor of our beef. The harvesting of our beef is
done locally at a small family operated business.
You can get our beef by the pound, medium size packages,
quarters, sides or in volume if you want to start a buying club. It is
available at the Steamboat Springs Farmers Market (6th & Lincoln), Saturdays
8-2, the Bamboo and Sweet Pea Markets in
Steamboat Springs, CO, Rocky Plains Meats in Dacono
and Ft. Collins, CO, It is also served in Steamboat Springs

We at Rocky Plains Quality Meats believe
that the health issues our society is experiencing today
are directly related to the preservatives, sugars, heavy
processing and harmful insecticides and chemical fertilizers
in the foods on the grocery store shelves. That is why we
raise our buffalo with absolutely no hormones or antibiotics.
Rocky Plains Quality Meats is dedicated to improving
our patrons' health through a conscious effort to provide the best natural
products available. Our herd roams the Pawnee Grasslands of northeastern
Colorado and graze on natural grasses where they once roamed a million
plus strong. Never grain-fed or finished, these grass-fed animals are
treated with respect and with very little interference to their natural
life rhythm.
We are proud to bring our buffalo “home” to their natural
habitat.
Buffalo products are available by the cut (steaks,
roasts, ground, jerky, and sausage). We also have beautifully tanned
full winter hair robes, leather and bleached skulls as well as pet treats
such as biscotti of liver, tendon chews and shin bones.
To compliment our other offerings we recently added
Foxfire Farms Colorado organically raised, grass-fed, free-range, naturally
processed lamb. This lamb is raised on the natural grass ranges
of Southern Colorado and include cuts such as chops, leg of lamb, ground
lamb, roasts, to name a few. This is young spring lamb with excellent
flavor and tenderness.
Wild caught Copper River salmon and halibut are
also available.
We welcome visitors to our mini-ranch just east
of I–25 between Hwy 7 and Hwy 52. Visit with the buffalo and shop
at your leisure in our market. All of our meat products are USDA inspected.
In addition to the buffalo, we also carry natural, free-range all naturally

Sangres Best offers premium grass fed beef with a satisfaction guarantee since 1995. The cattle are never fed antibiotics or ionophores nor do they ever receive artificial hormones of any kind. We handle these cattle with expertise, gentleness and respect. Choose from a multitude of beef packages ranging from 10 pounds to 400 pounds per order of USDA inspected beef, packaged with high tech barrier film insuring long-term freezer protection. We deliver within 250 miles of the ranch for a nominal fee.
Sangres Best Beef cattle graze Music Meadows Ranch, recently conserved via the San Isabel Land Protection Trust. This mountain ranch has been in the Parker family since 1968. The cattle water from streams and ponds and thrive on a buffet of rich grasses on naturally fertilized, irrigated and dry land pastures which build a wonderful flavor profile into the beef.
Discriminating restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area are now serving Sangres Best aka Brandon Natural Beef. Our customers consistently tell us this is the best tasting, most tender beef they have been able to find. We believe it is a combination of forage quality, breed type, humane handling and heavy mature finished condition on the cattle. Each of these factors is critical.
On another note, if you'd like a "no frills - memory rich" vacation, you and your family or friends may come to the ranch as guests, settling into the comfortable ranch house. Then step it up for a horse and cattle adventure, helping tend the cattle. You are also welcome to simply stop in for a visit so we can meet and show you the land and cattle..just give us a heads up so we know you are coming! There is always beef on hand to purchase on site as well.

spahn & friends Bison Ranch LLC, is
located just over the Colorado border in New Mexico and sells
grass-fed, all-natural buffalo meat.
We have raised bison since 1998 on Trinchera Pass,
NM. We handle them as little as possible, and guarantee they are
not subject to questionable drugs, chemicals or hormones. For numerous
customers with various diseases bison is the only choice for (red) meat.
Bison meat is heart-healthy and recommended to patients (see “The
Dakota Diet” written by Dr. K. Weiland, and the American Heart
Association). It’s the best diet for athletes (high in protein),
women (lots of iron), kids and seniors (essential fatty acids, low fat).
Bison meat tastes great. Bison is naturally juicy
and tender and can be interchanged with beef in almost any recipe. A
lower temperature should be used as bison is very lean and will cook
more quickly. It has nutritional advantages over other meats—you
get more protein with fewer calories and less fat. There is less
shrinking in your pan because of no marbling fat.
We process our bison at a USDA inspected facility.
After 10-14 days hanging the carcass is cut in custom packages and
frozen. We sell the meat mostly by the pound, but also sell quarters,
halves and whole carcasses. Customers can pick up their meat at the ranch
or get free delivery to Trinidad and Raton. We ship interstate for an
additional fee. In July/August we sell at the Farmers' Market in Trinidad,
CO.
We always hand out cooking tips and recipes to our
customers.

Natural beef has been a tradition at Sylvan
Dale Guest Ranch since the
mid 60s when Maurice and Mayme Jessup bought their first herd
of Charolais. They soon developed a breeding program of registered
European bulls, most recently Saler and Gelbvieh, resulting in
a unique herd well-suited to the grasslands of our Rocky Mountain
foothills.
Our
free-range Heart J Cattle graze on mountain grasslands on our 3200-acre
ranch and over 4000 acres of National Forest. These lands are protected
by perpetual conservation easements. We manage the ecological balance
of vegetation through rotational grazing which stimulates re-growth
and provides forage that is higher in nutritional value. Sylvan
Dale Guest Ranch was the winner of the 2008 "Conservationist
of the Year" Award
by the Big Thompson Conservation District.
When you buy Heart-J
Beef you know where your beef comes from! Buying locally saves
shipping which in turn reduces the carbon footprint. Our beef is
processed locally in a clean, USDA-inspected facility. When you
purchase Heart J Natural Beef you contribute to the preservation
of open lands, wildlife and the western lifestyle! Your values
realized.

Organic, and have employed organic practices continuously
since 1987.
We offer only healthy, safe, and delicious lean beef that
was raised using ecologically sustainable growing practices. At Thunderbasin
Land & Livestock, our cattle are treated humanely and receive no
antibiotics, hormones or pour-on insecticides. Much like the patterns
of wildlife, our calves are born in the warmth of Spring and are not
corralled or penned. They never see a feedlot and are 100% grass-fed
and grass-finished, providing you with all the health benefits documented
from grass fed beef. Our holistic ranch management practices create healthy
riparian zones and prairie, resulting in an abundance of native plants
and wildlife on the ranch.
Thunderbasin beef is processed at a USDA inspected

Touchstone Angus offers grass
finished beef. The animals are raised entirely on
our ranch near Lusk, Wyoming, but are processed, marketed,
and delivered beef from a USDA inspected plant in Elizabeth,
CO.
We have worked many years to identify angus cattle
that are inherently capable of consistently producing tender beef within
a grass/forage only diet. This hard to find genetic tenderness
combined with the special quality of the native grass diet available
on the open ranges of Wyoming sets Touchstone grass finished
beef apart in taste.
Our beef is not certified as organic due to the
time and money necessary for the process. Nonetheless, the beef has no
added hormones and no antibiotics are fed. The cattle are raised on native
pastures that are not sprayed with herbicides or farmed.
Touchstone beef is sold in whole, halves and quarters
(half of a half). The beef is processed at a USDA inspected
plant in Elizabeth, Colorado where it can be picked up frozen or
stored in a locker. We can ship beef as well if you live outside the
Denver area and are unable to pick it up.
