B Bar S Ranch is a
beef cattle ranching operation with two family-owned Colorado locations
in the scenic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Our high mountain
pasture in Nederland, CO has been family owned since 1968 and our
high plains ranch south of Elizabeth, CO has been family-owned and
operated since 1990.
The beef that we provide will have been
fed over the summer on grass in the high mountain pasture. Our cattle
are not given any growth hormones or antibiotics. They live healthy
lives with exercise, plenty of grass, fresh mountain spring water
and open space. We take precautions to never overgraze our land
and use a rotational grazing system to keep the feed fresh and loaded
with nutrition.
We sell beef to our customers in early September
of every year. There is a minimum order of 1/4 of a beef. The best
way to order is to split a half with someone you know. We will help
you with communicating the specifics to the packer so the meat gets
cut and packed to the specifications best for your family needs.
Currently we have our beef processed at Arapahoe Packing in Lafayette,
CO.

At Desert Weyr we develop and implement
sustainable systems to conserve rare and endangered farm animals.
Our primary goals are to conserve genetic resources and
promote sustainable agriculture systems. We currently work
with sheep, chickens, and geese. Our Black Welsh Mountain sheep
provide a small but tasty carcass. We breed Pilgrim geese and also
raise heritage breeds of chickens for eggs and meat.
We offer mutton by the
piece year round from our on-farm store. Whole lambs and mutton,
custom butchered, are available in the fall. Raw fleeces, roving,
yarn, quilt batts and tanned hides are available year-round. Geese will not be available until we again have slaughter facilities,
hopefully in 2008. Chickens are by reservation only and must be
ordered in January. We raise one batch of chickens a year; to get
on our list for chickens please contact us in December. We also
keep a few laying hens from rare breeds and eggs are available
at the farm store.
We take advantage of our animals' ability to
transform inedible plants and insects into healthy meat and wool.
Our grass finished lamb and mutton carcasses are very lean and
yet remain tender and tasty. Our geese are pasture raised with
some grain for optimum health. Our chickens range outside eating
a variety of plants, insects, worms, and grain supplements.
We do not feed antibiotics or growth hormones
to any of our livestock. We do provide humane care including vaccinations
and deworming as needed.
We are located in Western Colorado and are
also open at the farm store on Saturdays from noon to 5pm and other
days by appointment. Meat must be picked up at the farm. Wool products
can be shipped worldwide.

The Edmundson Ranch is a working family ranch
in southeastern Colorado that proudly offers customers our exceptional
quality grass-fed, grass-finished, all-natural beef.
Our beef are
free of: grains, antibiotics, growth hormones, steroids, chemical
fertilizers, pesticides and animal by-product feeds.
The Edmundson
Ranch thinks consumers have every right to know where their meat
comes from and what is put into it. After several family members,
including our young children, were diagnosed with multiple food
allergies, we became very concerned with the quality and content
of store-bought meats. We started keeping back some of our own
calves and grass-finishing them for ourselves and are now proud
to offer the same wholesome beef to our customers.
We go the extra
step and offer our customers the opportunity to come out to the
ranch and pick out their own beef. They are welcome to visit
periodically to watch for themselves as their beef is grown and
finished the all-natural way.
We sell wholes, halves and sometimes quarters
directly to our customers and deliver the live beef to the customer's
choice of processors within 100 miles for free. Pickup and delivery
of the meat is possible for an additional fee.

The Farm at Sunrise Ranch, located west
of Loveland Colorado, raises grassfed beef because it builds
health.
We purchase steers from local range-based cow-calf ranches, including
our neighbor Sylvan Dale Ranch, and let the cattle finish their
growth on our irrigated pastures. Then we sell USDA-processed beef,
either whole, 1/2, or 1/4, beeves or variety packages and cuts
to families and restaurants in Northern Colorado.
Our land stewardship is based on building health,
in our land, in our animals, and in our customers.
Sunrise Ranch was founded in
1945 and has been committed to sustainable and regenerative agriculture
since its inception. One of the first actions taken after the purchase
of our land was the building of the soil in our four-acre garden
by importing straw and horse manure. This set the precedent
in our land-stewardship practices of building health, instead of
battling disease.
We do not use pesticides, herbicides
or chemical fertilizers on our pastures. We do not use hormones,
antibiotics, confined feeding, or grain feeding while raising our
animals.
Order your beef at Farmer’s
Markets in Northern Colorado or online. Beef expected to be available
July-November 2008.

Green
Place Ranch raises natural grassfed beef in SouthWest
Colorado on the Uncompaghre Plateau.
We are a sustainable operation using solar
power for all of our infrastructure requirements. This includes
water pumping, ranch headquarters, home and office. We practice
rotational grazing on the 320 acre ranch and on the 4,500 acres
of grazing surrounding the ranch.
We raise our beef using only
pasture and ranch raised stored forage (hay). We use no chemical
fertilizers, herbicides, hormones, grain or grain based feed in
raising these animals. We do not confinement feed, and all
of our animals are raised in a low stress, open environment.
We
sell halves and wholes directly to our customers, with processing
by both state- and USDA-inspected facilities, as chosen
by the customer. We deliver to the processor and the customer picks
up their order when ready.
We are based on Colorado's Western Slope
and are happy to serve customers within a 300 mile
radius. We have our own USDA approved label
(granted in May of 2007) and are providing selected local (our
300 mile radius) natural and health food stores with our products
on a piece/cut basis.
Individual customers will enjoy
a considerable discount from piece prices by purchasing by
the half or whole. If you wish to buy a half, we can
match you up with another customer that also wishes a half. We
are also now selling Beef Paks in $250 and $500 orders. These are
an assortment of ground beef and primal cuts, steaks and roasts.
We are just now beginning construction of the
first of 6 greenhouses, 30' X 40' each, in which we will be raising
clean healthy produce and we will also have eggs,
chickens and
turkeys this year to be offered at the Montrose Farmers market
or available from the ranch directly to the customer on a pre-order/pick-up
basis.
Give us a
call for more information. We generally have a couple of animals
available at any given time, or available within a reasonable pre-order
time.

Ranch Beef comes from animals raised exclusively on grass
and forages such as alfalfa, sorghum, cornstalks, and wheat pasture.
The animals are not treated with synthetic hormones, chemical fly
spray, or feed antibiotics.
The grassfarmers use a controlled grazing system
designed to mimic the movements of buffalo and antelope before the
range was fenced. This stocking technique allows the grass to have
a rest period during the growing season, helping it to reach full
production. The beef is dry-aged for 12–14 days to
improve tenderness and flavor. Quarters, halves, and whole carcasses
are available.

Hollingsworth
Land and Cattle is the United States' first premiere entire
herd subjected to the insight and holistic forethought of anticipating
the coming revolution in the ranch-direct supply of extraordinarily
fine beef to consumers.
Hollingsworth cattle have been at the forefront
of genetic testing supplied by Bovigen Solutions (Australia) and
their ground-breaking efforts to identify and isolate two additional
genes (calpain and calpastatin) responsible for post mortem tenderization.
This test is for two separate and independent markers of tenderness
after the meat has been dry aged. Thus we guarantee our meat to
be as tender as the next animal's. The quality, taste and traceability
of origin of the product is truly unsurpassed.
Hollingsworth cattle are Genestar rated #2 or
above and surpass all prime USA export qualifications. No one can
compete with the early lead taken in advancing the science and art
of producing meat—be it steak or burger—that is consistently
tender. We promise unconditionally to supply a product that is the
envy of the industry and a compliment to the palate. We guarantee
the highest nutritional values, without added hormones, no steroids,
no antibiotics of any kind, no animal byproducts, no farmed or synthetic
feeds, and no salts or water added. Our meat is hand trimmed and
flash frozen in portion controlled cuts that are vacuum cryovac
packaged and delivered straight to you from the ranch.
In keeping with our tradition of value-ing the
land, the soil, the grass, and the health of the animal and its
overall happiness, we take great pleasure in supplying a product
of unusual dimension and flavor. We have invested considerable time
and money to be able to say, "this is how real beef used to
taste."
We invite and expect your comparison. Our cost
per edible portion is your assurance of best dollar spent. Thank
you

Indian
Ridge Farm & Bakery, located at 7,000 feet in elevation, is a 100-acre
diversified farm operation that includes grass-fed pastured poultry,
layer hens, hogs, turkeys, beef cattle, horses, vegetable garden,
greenhouse, a bakery, and hay pasture.
The farm is situated outside
Norwood, CO, on a mesa-top in the beautiful San Juan Mountains
of southwestern Colorado, near Telluride. The farm markets its
products via direct sales to customers in Norwood, Telluride and
the surrounding region, and through farmer’s markets (see Colorado
Beyond the Farm). The farm is also offering 25-35 CSA
memberships this season. We utilize the grass pastures that have
been established here in the region for the past 100 years.
We encourage our customers to always seek
out and buy locally produced foodstuffs, especially if they are
grass-fed. The benefits are numerous: a strengthening of agrarian
communities; the overall ecosystem benefits; the consumer is severing
the umbilical cord from the corporate giants; sustainable food
systems are created; open space is preserved. Perhaps most importantly,
as a consumer of locally produced foods, you connect to the land
and the soil in a special and intimate way otherwise not available.

The
Lazy P Ranch in northern Colorado offers a very unique way
to put naturally raised, home-grown beef on the family table.
The cattle are born on the ranch and are raised without the use
of chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics. The cattle at the Lazy P
Ranch are allowed to graze freely with minimal confinement as they
are rotated through irrigated pastures. This practice keeps both
the cattle and the pasture in top condition at all times by never
putting either in a stressful situation.
Families visit the ranch and pick an individual
calf that will be tagged with their name. As the animal matures
on the grass pasture, it is supplemented with quality, home-grown
feed. Families are encouraged to visit the ranch throughout the
feeding process and watch as their beef is grown and finished to
optimal weight and condition. When a family's animal approaches
the end of the feeding process, the family works one on one with
the meat processor of their choice to ensure they receive the cuts
and package weights that best fit their needs. Since the Lazy P
herd is relatively small, each animal is given the best care possible
with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity.

Maytag
Mountain Ranch cattle: organically raised, grass-finished beef. A truly
exceptional taste experience marrying natural goodness with tender
robust flavor.
Our cattle are born and raised in the beautiful
Wet Mountain Valley in the shadow of Colorado's spectacular Sangre
de Cristo Mountains. Maytag Mountain Ranch's 2953 acres are lush
and green; its days warm and nights cool. Our management intensive
rotation grazing system ensures they have plenty of fresh, protein
rich grass to eat.
Our pastures are never artificially fertilized.
Our cattle drink ice-cold spring water—so clean and pure
it has been tested safe for people to drink. We NEVER use hormones
and NEVER use antibiotics. Our cattle are not taken to the feedlot
to be "finished." Instead they fatten on natural grass,
the way nature intended.
Maytag Mountain Ranch Beef has higher
levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of heart disease,
and which may reduce the risk of cancer. It is lower in total fat
than beef from conventionally raised (corn finished) cattle, resulting
in fewer calories. This makes our beef a wonderful, healthy food
for people and, best of all, it tastes great! For more information

At the
Oswald Cattle Company, we raise our animals at the foot of
the Sangre De Cristo mountains, where our cattle harvest the sun.
Our goal is to bring you quality beef with great taste and
the health benefits that come from eating an all-natural product.
Our animals continually eat from "nature's salad bar,"
receiving a diet rich in legumes and natural grasses that are converted
into a high protein, healthy meal. We use management intensive
grazing techniques in an effort to mimic the way nature used to
do it, changing pastures frequently, allowing our grass to rest
and regrow.
Our calves are born and raised at home, processed
locally, and then aged to ensure taste and tenderness. We peacefully
co-exist with predators and treat our animals humanely. We do not
use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides on our pastures.
We do not treat our grassfat calves with antibiotics, synthetic
growth hormones, nor feed animal by-products. We offer whole carcasses,
halves, and split halves. We also offer a variety pack as well as
ground beef. Inquiries are welcome. Brochures are available on request.

Princess
Beef was started in 1999 with a cow named Princess. Raised
by Cynthia and the Allen Ranch, it was with her and her calves
that the idea of selling HOMEGROWN, RANGE-FINISHED BEEF was
created.
Princess Beef is range-finished, healthy lean
beef raised where caring for and continually improving the environment
are primary concerns. It is beef grown on organic pastures where
NO insecticides, herbicides, or commercial fertilizers are employed.
The meat is produced without antibiotics or hormones, never confined
in a feedlot, and never grain fattened. Princess Beef is raised
predator-friendly—no mountain lions or coyotes are killed
to produce Princess Beef.
The beef is sold in whole, half, or split quarters.
Putting your name on a reserve list is essential. Beef is ready
in October. Pick up your meat at the ranch or delivery in

R
Patch O' Heaven. The six J's (Jon, Jay, Josh, Justin, Jeremiah and Jodel)
at R Patch O' Heaven live and work in beautiful Eaton/Galeton,
CO.
We enjoy working as a family in our little
barn, which has been refinished to produce raw milk. We have both
goat milk and cow milk. Our animals have access to grass and are
very comfortable.
The Ericksons are not new to the milking business.
We are the third generation of dairy farmers here, so knowing the
business comes natural, just like our product. Through cow and
goat shares we produce old fashion product for shareholders to
enjoy just as our family has for years.
We also distribute milk from Erie and Loveland
Cole through other share holders.
For any questions, or information, please contact
us by e-mail or phone.

Reverse
K Bar Ranch LLP started raising beef in Plateau Valley
in 1972. Since then we have tried to produce the best tasting meat
possible, as well as the clean, natural and lean beef that many
people are looking for. But what does clean, natural, and lean really
mean? To us, clean and natural means no hormones, no antibiotics,
no pesticides, no herbicides, plus a calm, humane end to life. Life
means that the animal is raised at our home ranch at 6,000 feet
on grass pasture, irrigated with water from the Grand Mesa, in the
summer; in the winter, they are fed hay from our fields. No grains
are ever fed. That makes for lean, full-flavored meat without the
residues of chemicals used on most feed grains and the fat that
grains produce.
We sell whole animals and can generally find
someone for you to share with so you can buy half a beef. Collbran
Locker does an excellent job of aging and cutting the meat. They
still dry age beef—something that is not done much anymore
because it takes time to do correctly. Dry aging makes for full
flavored, tender meat. They also custom cut to your individual needs.
We are happy to help you decide how you want your meat cut and packaged.
Feel free to give us a call to discuss any questions you might have.

We at Rocky
Plains Quality Meats believe that the health issues our society
is experiencing today are directly related to the preservatives,
sugars, heavy processing and harmful insecticides and chemical
fertilizers in the foods on the grocery store shelves. That is
why we raise our buffalo with absolutely no hormones or antibiotics.
Rocky Plains Quality Meats is dedicated to
improving our patrons' health through a conscious effort to provide
the best natural products available. Our herd roams the Pawnee
Grasslands of northeastern Colorado and graze on natural grasses
where they once roamed a million plus strong. Never grain-fed or
finished, these grass-fed animals are treated with respect and
with very little interference to their natural life rhythm. We
are proud to bring our buffalo “home” to
their natural habitat.
Buffalo products are available by the cut
(steaks, roasts, ground, jerky, and sausage) or by the ½,
cut to your preference. We also have beautifully tanned full winter
hair robes, leather and bleached skulls as well as pet treats such
as all natural, raw bones.
To compliment our other offerings we
recently added Foxfire Farms Colorado organically raised, grass-fed,
free-range, naturally processed lamb to our offering. This lamb
is raised on the natural grass ranges of Southern Colorado and
include cuts such as: chops, leg of lamb, ground lamb, roasts,
to name a few. This is young spring lamb with excellent flavor
and tenderness.
We welcome visitors to our mini-ranch just
east of I–25 between Hwy 7 and Hwy 52. Visit with
the buffalo and shop at your leisure in our market. All of our
meat products are USDA inspected. In addition to the buffalo,
we also carry natural, free-range chicken, pork, and eggs.
We also carry other natural products for your dining pleasure,
including natural ketchup, mustards, BBQ sauces, honeys, jams and
jellies, chili sauces, soup mixes and Quinoa to mention a few.
If you live in Northern Colorado, visit our
new market at 207 S. Washington Avenue in Loveland, (970) 667-3112
or (970) 217-7985. We welcome group visits at the ranch with advanced
notice. Call us for directions to either market or visit our web-site.
We offer free delivery in the Metro area on orders of $150. or

spahn & friends Bison Ranch LLC, is
located just over the Colorado border in New Mexico and sells grass-fed,
all-natural buffalo meat.
We have raised bison since 1998 on Trinchera
Pass, NM. We handle them as little as possible, and guarantee
they are not subject to questionable drugs, chemicals or hormones.
For numerous customers with various diseases bison is the only
choice for (red) meat. Bison meat is heart-healthy and recommended
to patients (see “The Dakota Diet” written by Dr.
K. Weiland, and the American Heart Association). It’s the
best diet for athletes (high in protein), women (lots of iron),
kids and seniors (essential fatty acids, low fat).
Bison meat tastes great. Bison is naturally
juicy and tender and can be interchanged with beef in almost any
recipe. A lower temperature should be used as bison is very lean
and will cook more quickly. It has nutritional advantages over
other meats—you get more protein with fewer calories and
less fat. There is less shrinking in your pan because of no
marbling fat.
We process our bison at a USDA inspected facility.
After 10-14 days hanging the carcass is cut in custom packages
and frozen. We sell the meat mostly by the pound, but also sell
quarters, halves and whole carcasses. Customers can pick up their
meat at the ranch or get free delivery to Trinidad and Raton. We
ship interstate for an additional fee. In July/August we sell at
the Farmers' Market in Trinidad, CO.
We always hand out cooking tips and recipes
to our customers.
