Awesome Farm is a pasture based animal
farm in Tivoli, New York. We provide eggs,
chicken, beef and lamb to
people who want the freshest, healthiest food available.
As farmers,
we do everything we can to care for the animals and the land.
Our animals are raised on pasture, under conditions that do not
require them to receive antibiotics. We don't apply pesticides
or synthetic fertilizers to our fields. We feel that we
are part of a larger movement to create a local, healthier food
system.
Our lambs spend their
entire lives on pasture. They eat
only fresh forages, minerals, and their mother's milk. Lambs
are pre-ordered and sold by the half or the whole. They
are custom butchered to your specifications and picked up from
the farm.
Steers are entirely
grass-fed and grass-finished. They are pre-ordered and sold by
the whole, half, or split quarter. They,
too, are custom butchered to your specifications and picked up
from the farm.
Our pastured chickens are fed local, organic grain from
Lightning Tree Farm in Millbrook, NY. They are moved daily to
fresh grasses. Chickens are sold whole and picked up fresh from
the farm. We will also be delivering fresh chickens
to Brooklyn.
Wool from our sheep is processed locally and is sold undyed.
It has a wonderful feel to it and is easy to work with. Our
pelts are processed in Pennsylvania and are a luxurious gift
for yourself or a loved one.

Beartown Farms supplies healthy grass fed lamb and beef.
We are situated in the ‘lake effect’ zone east of
Lake Ontario - an outstanding location for a grass farm. Forty
inches of rain, cool summers, and water holding soils enable
us to grow excellent forages without chemical fertilizers or
herbicides. With more than 650 acres of meadows and pastures,
the sun provides all the energy required to sustain our farm
operations.
In order to efficiently manage the land for our animals, we practice
rotational grazing and harvest all of our winter feed as hay
and grass silage. The farm is home to more than 500 Dorp-Croix
hair sheep and 125 Angus cattle. Our lamb is for people who don’t
normally like lamb, as there is no wool lanolin taste to the
meat, and Angus beef is among the best.
Sustainable agriculture and healthy grass-fed lamb and beef – it
doesn’t get better than that. Try some for yourself. Our
farm grown lamb and beef are USDA inspected, custom cut and vacuum
packaged. Cows are sold by the whole, half and split quarters
and lamb by the whole.
You can contact us to order or arrange
a delivery directly to specific locations within the northern
New York region. Pick-up at the farm is always welcome. Shipping
is also available nationwide.

Bennington
Beefalo is a family business located in the green hills of
Wyoming County in western New York State.
Beefalo, like their relatives the American
Bison, thrive on the grasses and various legumes found in our pastures.
We try to provide as much green grass, fresh air and sunshine as
possible to our animals by employing rotational grazing to provide
them with a fresh salad bar eating experience. This menu of grasses
helps to provide our meat with more flavor and nutrition than found
in conventional grain fed, feedlot beef from the supermarkets. Our
animals are raised without implants, antibiotics, hormones and in
most cases, no grain feeding. Various studies have shown that Beefalo
is higher in protein, and lower in fat, cholesterol and calories
than other meats and poultry. It is tender and tasty and cooks in
less time than regular beef, with less shrinkage due to its lower
fat content.
Our meats are processed in a USDA federally
inspected packing house. They are dry aged in a cooler for two weeks
to promote tenderness and a good eating experience. They are then
cut and wrapped to your specifications and frozen, ready for your
freezer and eating enjoyment. Available by the side, split half,
or 50-pound mini pack.
If you have any questions or want information
regarding current prices and available pick up dates, please phone
us. We also offer a variety of handcrafted soaps made from Beefalo
tallow and other fine oils.

Cobblestone
Valley is a diversified organic farm
certified by NOFA-NY, located in the heart of New York State
right off Interstate 81 - exit 13. We are 20 minutes south
of Syracuse and 10 minutes north of Cortland in the small
town of Preble.
The backbone of the farm is dairy,
with all other enterprises connected to and synergistic with
milk production. In addition to the dairy, we produce certified
organic pastured poultry,
which includes both broilers and turkey, and certified organic pick-your-own
strawberries. We also produce pastured eggs, grass-fed
beef, pastured pork, and compost. We sell our milk
to Organic Valley—a national, farmer-owned, farmer-operated co-op
based in LaFarge, Wisconsin, which sells products in the region
that they were produced. If local organic food is important to
you, then please support Organic Valley!
The farm is in the fourth generation
of the Knapp family and we are doing our utmost to preserve,
conserve, and rebuild the wonderful soil resources in our valley.
In organic farming we use nature as our teacher and we believe
that all health begins with the soil so our soils are
our most precious resource. Healthy soils grow healthy plants,
which produce healthy animals and, in turn, healthy people.
We’d like to take a moment
to thank you for your interest in locally grown foods. We sincerely
hope that your interest will lead to your support of a local
and thereby much more sustainable food infrastructure. Very often,
the first step is the most difficult one to take. Once you’ve
taken that first step towards purchasing locally, it all becomes
much easier! If there
is a product you are interested in that we don’t carry,
we can often direct you to a local vendor that does.

Flying
Pigs Farm offers pork chops, tenderloin, roasts, bacon,
ham and Sun-Dried Tomato and Chardonnay Sausage. Our
pork is much more moist and flavorful than supermarket meat.
It's different because we raise heritage breeds of pigs the old-fashioned
way.
The pigs are raised outdoors in the fresh air
and sunshine, with plenty of room to roam on our fields and in our
woods. Because they have so much space and because we move them
often, the land stays clean and the pigs stay healthy. The pigs
snack on grass, weeds, and roots that grow on our land, and they
also eat dried, ground grains.
Our pigs are "Large Blacks," Glouestershire
Old Spots," and "Tamworths," old-fashioned breeds
in danger of extinction. It may seem odd to use these breeds for
pork because they are so rare, but they will not survive unless
a market for these animals can be created. Breeders can then afford
to expand their herds and expand the population.
We ship across the country. Look for us in
the spring and fall at the Grand Army Plaza and Tribeca Greenmarkets
in New York City. Visitors are welcome to pitch in at our fledgling
farm on the Battenkill—but please call first!

Fox Hill Farm is 315 scenic, rolling
acres in Ancramdale, New York just 2 hours north of NY City,
in the foothills of the Berkshires of MA, CT and near the Taconic

to do well on grass and produce a healthy and tender, tasty product
high in Omega 3 essential fatty acids.

also sell and ship individual packages of steaks,
roasts, burger and

Golden Hill Farms goes to grass finished beef.
Golden Hill Farms
is in northwest Pennsylvania, about 40
miles south of Erie, 80 miles north of Pittsburgh, and about
2 hours from both Cleveland and Buffalo. We are 4 miles east
of I-79 off exit 141.
For over 25 years we at have been producing
and selling top quality show cattle, with the remaining calves
being sold to feedlots for grain finishing. Since we are a grass
and hay farm, this year we decided to keep 30 of our top feeders
to finish on grass.
During much of this time we have also operated
a meat processing plant. The animals in this program will be
slaughtered under federal inspection and we will be processing
the meat ourselves, in our facility on our farm. Additionally,
the only meat we will be processing will be our grass fed beef.
This year the grass finished cattle will
have an average dressed weight of 600–700 pounds. They
will be sold by the half (300–350 pounds) or in bundles.
We have designed seven different
bundles that we hope will meet everyone's needs. The contents
and price of each can be seen on our website.

Good Grass Farm is located in the beautiful rolling hills of
Chautauqua County, NY. We purchased our house and land on Open
Meadows Road in 1999. It was a bit dilapidated, to say the least,
but we could see the potential and sense the warmth of this once
vibrant dairy farm as we walked through the empty rooms of the
old house and hiked the over grown pastures.
We started slow, growing good produce and raising chickens and
turkeys for our family and friends that desired the same high
quality, all natural products we wanted for ourselves. As we
progress, we continue to embrace the basic philosophy that simple
is best.
We currently produce pasture
raised broiler chickens, brown eggs,
and heritage and broad breasted turkeys. Broiler chickens
are available June through September. Turkeys are available for
Thanksgiving and Christmas. Eggs are available year round. Blueberries and
produce are available starting mid July. This summer we are expanding
to include grass fed beef.
All of our products are grown without
the use of antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, herbicides, or
chemical fertilizers.

Green
Heron Growers has been certified organic since 2007 for shiitake
mushrooms, veggies, flowers, herbs and fruits. In 2009 we added chickens for eggs and meat, and grass-fed beef. We are a small farm, which we
run by ourselves with the help of the occasional volunteer or Woofer.
We are certified organic by NOFA-NY,
LLC for our 200 acres and 35 acres of leased pasture.
Our meat birds are pastured
in Joel Salatin style chicken tractors that move every day to
fresh grass. Our cows are rotationally grazed and get moved to
a fresh paddock every day. The steers we have are not certified
organic since we bought them as yearlings. All our cows are Devon
crosses, an excellent breed for grass-fed
production. We hope to start a certified organic herd with Devon
genetics in the fall of 2009.
Most of our sales are made
here at the farm, one of us are usually here. In the 2009 season
we are raising 250 meat birds and 10 steers. Chickens are $3.99/pound
for whole birds and $4.50 for quartered bird. Eggs are
$3/dozen and are green and brown, available from August through
the winter. Shiitake mushrooms are
$16/pound fresh or $18/2.5oz dried. Grass-fed beef will be available
near the end of the year or in early 2010.
We have a small selection of produce, especially garlic and greens.
The shiitake are log-grown,
outdoor cultivated in our Hemlock grove. We have over 1000 logs
in production. Some of our shiitake strains fruit with cold weather
and some respond to soaking. It's quite the science project
and our supplies fluctuate.
We'd be pleased to supply you with local, clean, healthy food.

Greener Pastures Farm is located in
the central Finger Lakes area of New York State, half way between
Geneva and Canandaigua. The farm is in an area that supports
many diverse agricultural enterprises. Currently Greener Pastures
Farm is only offering beef by
the cut in vacuum-sealed packages, individually or by the half/whole
(based upon boxed weight). Sorry, meat goats, and
organically fed turkeys are not available at this time.
The beef is 100% pasture raised in summer and fed premium hay
in winter months. When naturally fat, they are personally transported
to a USDA processor that is less than one hour from the farm.
Beef is aged up to 21 days, cut into individual packages and
vacuum-sealed. No antibiotics, no added hormones, and no feedlot
from calf to table!
ORDERING: Products can be
reserved by contacting the farm at (585) 394-1461. No shipping,
no store—just family to family
service.
Most of our beef cuts are reserved prior to processing.

At Happy Hooves Organic Farm we raise grass fed beef on
our organic pastures and fields. All beef feed is raised right
here and is 100% certified organic by NOFA-NY. We also raise pork and venison here
on pasture, supplemented with certified organic feed from Lakeview
Organic Grains in Penn Yan. We're learning the ropes on chickens
and eggs right now with turkeys and rabbits up next year. Fresh
organic veggies in season can be found here at our farm stand
beginning some time this summer of 2009.
Our calves stay with mothers
getting their milk naturally until their Mama puts a stop to
that. Our cows are never confined and never see a feedlot. We
take pride in knowing our cows are happy as evidenced by the
way they "play" in the fields.
Unhappy animals, or animals that don't have their comfort needs
met do not "play." Happy cows make better beef !
We never use any hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, chemicals
or anything not allowed in certified organic production of any
of our meat.
All meat is sold primarily in bulk, by the side or split quarters.
We occasionally have cuts available and often have ground beef
available. We only use beef cows raised for that purpose. You'll
save a lot of money over the same amount of inferior meat from
the supermarket. We use processors who will cut, wrap, and freeze
your meat to your specification. We're sure you'll be happy with
them.
So call us if you're ready for some REAL
beef. It's no bull,
we really do have better beef 4 U...

Heather
Ridge Farm is located in the Northern Catskill Mountains, in
upstate New York. Located on old dairy pastures with hundreds of
ancient apple trees, we’re a new farm that’s 200 years
old. Our products are offered primarily at our on-farm store or
within a day's shipping region. You can also check New York's Beyond
the Farm page to find restaurants or farmers markets that feature
our products.
We offer pork, beef, lamb, chickens
and turkeys, fresh in season and frozen all year. We make
our own artisan sausages, pates, mustards and many other specialty
products.
All our animals and birds (and bees!) are lovingly
raised in small groups on pasture in the fresh air with mountain
spring water. The cattle and lamb are entirely grass fed, and the
pigs, chickens and turkeys have all the fresh grass they want as
well as being supplemented with a natural grain mix we have custom-made
to order.
Our animals receive no antibiotics, no hormones,
no animal by-products in their feed and there are no chemical fertilizers
used on the pastures.
We get our animals from other family farms
in the region that breed them meeting our high standards. Our cattle
are of the Angus, Hereford, Devon breeds. Our pigs both Old Spots
and the red Tamworth “Irish-Rover” heritage breed. We
have started our own flock of sheep this year.
We offer our own award-winning raw honey. Many
varieties of gourmet garlic and fresh culinary herbs are grown on
farm, because we love them! We use organic growing methods, but
we are not certified. As we restore our orchards, we have apple
wood to create a delicious smoke for your barbecues. And we’re
always developing new products!

Hickory Field Farm is a small family-run
farm located in Orange County, NY. We are dedicated
to raising our animals in a natural, low stress environment to
ensure they have the best quality of life possible.
Our beef cows have access to pasture
365 days a year within our rotational grazing model, and are
a combination of Miniature Herefords and Lowline Angus. These
smaller cattle require less pasture, are less damaging to the
land, have shorter muscle fibers (which results in more tender
beef), and produce steaks that are much closer to recommended
serving sizes.
We also have pastured poultry; we
use a heritage breed called "Freedom Rangers" that
excel on pasture and have an excellent flavor. Their diet
is supplemented with an organic feed composed entirely of locally
produced ingredients. Our laying hens free range around
the farm daily, and produce absolutely delicious eggs.

Honey Hill
Highlands is a family farm located in Upstate New York. We have
been raising pastured Highland cattle since 1982.
Highland beef is lean, well marbled,
and flavorful with little outside waste fat (they are insulated
by long hair rather than a thick layer of fat). Highland and Highland
crosses have graded in the top of their respective classes at the
prestigious National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO. In the British
Isles, Highland Beef is recognized as the finest available and fetches
premium prices. The British Royal family keeps a large herd of Highlands
at Balmoral Castle, Scotland and considers them their beef of choice.
All the beef sold is born and raised on our
farm. We sell split quarters and sides. These are available in June
and October due to the seasonal nature of the grass flush in New
York. We only sell to those who can pick up at the USDA processing
plant. Supply is limited, so order early.

Honeyhill
Farm is a certified organic family
farm in the Finger Lakes of NY.
Our principal crops are certified organic-pasture raised chickens & beef,
gourmet quality garlic and a select set of vegetables
including 15 heirloom tomatoes. The significant difference
between our tomatoes and that of the others is that taste is
always first; one taste is all that it takes to become a convert!
Our chickens yield an incredibly delicious meat with a more dense
texture than can be found in industrial chicken. They are fed
exclusively certified organic grain along with clovers and grasses
out on the pasture where they live their lives. They run to their
hearts content scratching in the soil while enjoying the benefits
of sunshine and fresh air. We call them Real Chicken. Our
Black Angus steers are grass fed and finished offering only organic
minerals and kelp. We feed no grain and do not medicate.
Our products are available in various Rochester area locations
during the growing season. We attend South Wedge Farmers
Market Thursdays 4-8pm, Canandaigua Farmers Market Saturdays
8:30am-12:30 and Brighton Farmers Market Sundays 9-1PM.
Our chickens are regularly served at the top restaurants in the
Rochester Region!

Kezialain Farm, in
Orange County NY, has been in our family for over 200 years.
We see ourselves as stewards of this land that has supported
us for eight generations, which is why we raise 100% grass-fed,
(NOFA-NY) certified organic beef cattle. They
thrive on the native grasses and plants that grow naturally in
the fields; they fit in with the fields, forest, streams and
wetlands on our farm to keep this mini-ecosystem healthy.
The cattle eat only their mother’s
milk, our pasture and hay, and organic minerals like kelp. We
don’t
use growth hormones, routine antibiotics, harmful medications,
artificial fertilizers or dangerous substances in the fields.
This all makes Kezialain beef is the healthiest kind of beef
you can buy – both totally grass-fed and organic. (Plus,
it tastes good!)
Our beef is processed at a
small organic USDA slaughterhouse where we know our cattle are
treated well. The meat is dry aged for 10–14 days to enhance
flavor and tenderness. It is vacuum packed and frozen as soon
as it is processed. We sell our beef on the farm by mixed quarters;
in 20- and 40-pound variety packs; and 10 or 20 pounds packs
of ground beef. You can also
buy Kezialain Beef by the piece at three stores in the area: Pleasant
Stone Farm, Middletown, NY; Soons Orchard, New Hampton,
NY; Rogowski
Farm Market and CSA, Pine Island, NY.
We try to have
meat available year round, but sometimes run low. We suggest
that you contact us before you want to buy to reserve what you
want. More information on the farm and our meat, including a

Kinderhook Farm consists of several hundred acres of pastures
and hay meadows located in the Hudson Valley of New York. We
raise beef cattle on a 100% grass and legume diet that includes
no grain, antibiotics, growth hormone, or animal by-products.
Our grass fed pasture system
is better for the animal and our environment, resulting in nutritionally
superior beef. The most important thing that we do is
allow our cattle to be cattle. They are born in the pastures of our farm,
and graze the forages growing in our fields. We harvest the excess hay
during the summer months and feed it to the cattle during the
winter. All animal wastes are returned to the land and become
nutrients for the next grass cycle.
The Kinderhook Farm Store
offers individually packaged cuts of pasture-raised, grass-finished
beef along with farm fresh pasture eggs and one
of the best views in the Hudson Valley. We also accept orders
for whole and half beef (around 225 to 275 pounds of meat). We're
open every day although we may be out doing chores around the
farm when you arrive. Please call us on our cell
phones and we'll meet you at the store. Feel free to call us ahead if

Welcome to Mack Brook Farm: Kevin Jablonski and Karen
Christensen, Owners
We are a small, family-owned
farm in the eastern foothills of the Adirondacks in New York
State. Our goal is to provide our customers with 100% grassfed
and grass-finished, pasture-based Angus beef that
is a tastier and healthier alternative to commercially raised
beef, while practicing farming techniques that benefit the environment.
Our cattle DO NOT get antibiotics, growth hormones, or genetically
modified feed. Our cattle DO GET grass and hay from our fields,
acres of pasture to wander, and lots of TLC. We are not certified
organic but operate using what we consider ’best practices’ for
the animals and the environment.
We are proud to say we received
the Animal Welfare Approval seal, certifying humane treatment
of our animals from birth through processing. In order to qualify
for this award, both our farm and our processor were audited
by Animal Welfare Approved, which is an independent certifying
organization.
We sell sides of beef and individual cuts
of meat from the farm and welcome visitors. Please note, we are
a small producer so not all cuts are available at all times.

Melody
Springs Farm specializes in raising grass-fed
Hereford and Hereford-Angus cross beef cows in a natural stress-free
environment. Our cows do not receive any kind of antibiotic or
hormone treatment and are fed and finished on pastures which
are completely chemical-free. Our pastures are meticulously maintained,
and we employ rotational grazing to provide optimal nutrition
for our herd.
Melody Springs Farm
is located in beautiful Schoharie County just outside the village
of Sharon Springs, New York. It is comprised of 125 acres of
hay fields, pastures and woods on an escarpment overlooking
the Mohawk Valley. We have painstakingly brought this former
dairy farm back from a fate that has befallen so many like
it – reverting to scrub
land or becoming yet another development. We view this as our
contribution towards Central New York’s agricultural heritage
and the resurgence of the old-fashioned family farm.
We offer whole, half, and split-side beef.
We also offer brown eggs from our free-ranging
chickens and hay in small square bales.
Feel free to visit us by appointment.

Midsummer Farm has been practicing
and developing artisanal and sustainable agriculture since 2002.
We are a very small farm, specializing in heritage poultry and
game birds. Beautiful assortments of eggs in all shades
of brown and green are sold by the dozen and half dozen—please
visit our website or sign up for our newsletter for updates as
to how to buy our eggs and for egg availability.
Our hens
are respected as living, feeling beings and thus enjoy spending
the entire day ranging in over 3 acres of organically maintained
pasture, woods, wild meadow, and riparian areas. The flock is
made up of heritage breeds of chickens, and we also offer chicks
and/or breeding stock of Ameraucana, Cuckoo Sport Marans, Speckled
Sussex, and Salmon Faverolle chickens. Other upcoming projects
involve quail and snails, so please sign up for our mailing list
for up-to-date info and events. Our poultry, and the land they
range on, is Certified Animal Welfare Approved, Certified
Organic, Certified Naturally Grown, and Biodynamic.
Customers are more than welcome to stop by and visit the farm;
but we are not open to public, so you must email ahead and
make an appointment. We also offer a variety of workshops on sustainable
agriculture—our Backyard
Organic Chicken Workshop is given 5 times a year, and we also host farm-participation
events.

Natural
Borders Farm specializes in raising grass-fed beef on
a rotational grazing system. Our cattle spend the grazing season
moving daily to fresh paddocks of native grasses. We also graze
horses, poultry and sheep with our cattle to encourage an increased
variety of native grass species and to provide natural predator
protection. We strive to provide a natural, healthy, non-stressful
and enjoyable environment for all our livestock.
We also utilize pigs for compost production
in our barn. These pigs spend at least 12 hours daily in the cattle
barn rummaging through the bedding material while the cows are outside.
Pigs are also fed corn meal, garden excesses and apples from our
farm. We have a limited amount of pork available in both
the fall and spring seasons. In the near future, we hope to offer
pasture poultry and grass-fed lamb.
Our cattle are processed in a federally inspected
processing plant. Beef may be purchased in quarters, halves or whole.
Although not certified organic, no chemicals, hormones or routine
drugs are used on our farm.
We also have our own hives of honeybees for
increased pollination and production of pure honey that is
available at most times.

is an old farm house, part of which is stone and a menagerie
of animals that enhance the landscape. Our land

New York
Beef Company, LLC. At the New York Beef Company we had two goals:
to raise beef that would yield the finest, most succulent
cuts available and at the same time be one of the healthiest foods
one can eat.
Many would consider these goals an impossible
paradox. But our 100% grass-fed, all-natural beef is completely
free of antibiotics, hormone implants and by-products. The life
of each animal is totally controlled from birth to harvest on a
small group of upstate New York farms that must past stringent guidelines
to meet our quality criteria. The end result is the finest, healthiest,
safest beef you can buy. It takes a lot to pass our requirements
because we know it takes a lot to pass yours.

Pure Indian Foods is a small family-owned
business that takes pride in making an exceptional quality grass-fed
and certified organic Ghee. Golden colored Ghee
is prepared by melting and simmering butter until all the water
evaporates and the milk solids settle at the bottom. The remaining
butter oil is very stable, giving it a high smoke point which
makes it an excellent choice for deep fat frying, baking and
sautéing. Because of the low moisture content, it
can be stored without refrigeration for 2-3 months. Many people
find our ghee, with its rich, nutty flavor, to be tastier than
butter.
We make our ghee fresh, with care, in small
batches, right here in the USA. Our products are USDA Certified
Organic. We use butter made only in Springtime through the Fall,
when the cows are actually out on the pasture eating fresh green
grass. We make our ghee only on the waxing or full moon days
which are auspicious in the ancient Vedic system. We use glass
bottles instead of plastic bottles to avoid dangerous toxic chemicals
from leeching from plastic containers. Our family has been in
the ghee business in India for 5 generations, since 1889, and
we are proudly continuing that tradition.
Ghee has been used for its health-giving
and healing properties for thousands of years. In Ayurveda
(the “science of life”), cow ghee is considered one
of the most sacred foods.
Ghee is the best cooking oil as it is stable
at higher temperatures, and it enhances the flavor of spices
and herbs. Ghee is free of casein and lactose and is suitable
for people who are allergic to dairy products. It keeps skin
soft, and has anti-aging properties. Ghee contains naturally
occurring CLA, Omega-3, Vitamins A, D, E & K2. It is free
of harmful trans-fats.
Ghee is shelf-stable and we ship worldwide
by USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL. We offer special discounts
to co-ops and buying clubs.

Raindance Farm is introducing "Sun
Cheese," our artisinal
semi-hard cheese made in the tradition of the Italian
Alps. Both grass-fed and organic, we use whole, raw cow's
milk in an Asiago recipe. This traditional cheese recipe was
perfected over the centuries using milk from cows on grass
meadows and with it the goodness in our milk
shines. Sun Cheese is aged at least six months with
a subtle flavor; creamy , grassy and sweet with a slow, nutty nuance.
We are seasoned grazers, entering our twentieth
year as enthusiastic graziers and our twelfth year certified
organic with Nofa-NY. This year we are again honored
by the National Dairy Quality Awards as a Gold finalist and the exceptional
milk quality makes our cheese that much more healthy for the families
like our own who enjoy it.
CLA analysis done in
'08 to found the CLA at an impressive 1.96 mg/gram because
we only make cheese during our green grass season in order to pass
on the health benefits to you. To get cheese shipped to you contact

Simple Gifts Farm is a small, diversified
family farm focusing on pasture-based poultry and heritage pork production.
We also grow and sell organic (non-certified) vegetables,
herbs and flowers.
Our poultry—meat chickens, laying
hens and turkeys—are raised outdoors with access
to fresh grass from the moment they arrive as day old chicks.
The first couple weeks of their lives they are restricted to
our hoophouses, which are on grass, but are more protected from
wind, rain, snow, etc. As
they grow, they are moved completely outside, with a small movable
shade structure to accompany them. We move them to fresh
grass at least once/day, rotating their grazing areas over several
large pastures. They are also fed certified organic local
grains.
Our pigs are also raised outdoors, with several
small temporary huts for protection from inclement weather in
the colder months. We rotate their pastures so they are
able to eat ample amounts of grass, roots, acorns, other tree
nuts and berries. Most of the pasture areas include some
forest ground, which allows them shade in the summer months and
where they enjoy rooting in old logs and through the leaves to
find acorns, grubs and other tasty treats. Our sows farrow
outdoors, where we allow them to choose their own farrowing areas,
as they build large cozy nests to give birth in. From day
one the piglets are exposed to sunshine, rain, wind, green grass
and rich soil. We rotate all the pigs through a variety
of pastures and woodlands.
Our vegetables are grown organically,
with a focus on open pollinated and heirloom varieties.

Owner/farmers Paul Borghard and Karen Weinberg are milking approximately
150 East Friesian cross ewes and pasture raising approximately 300
lambs annually.
Every effort is made to maximize the health
and well-being of the animals and the environment. The operation
is grass-based and seasonal: ewes and lambs are intensively grazed
on over 100 acres of grass, clover, and alfalfa pastures and ewes
are milked only while on pasture. The flock's diet is supplemented,
when necessary, with locally-grown whole grains. The milk and meat
is produced naturally with careful attention to the welfare of each
animal, whether they are destined for the milking flock or the slaughterhouse.
The result is lamb that is tender, flavorful and healthy. One chef
compared the taste of the lamb from 3-Corner Field Farm to great
wine: reflecting the sweet nuances from the land on which it is
grazed.
Paul and Karen market most of the ewes' milk
to Old Chatham Sheepherding Company for the production of their
award-winning cheeses. Their naturally raised lamb is direct
marketed to local customers at the farm; is sold to individuals
and restaurants in New York City at the Union Square Greenmarket;
and can be mail-ordered anywhere in the U.S. In 2003, 3-Corner Field
Farm will be offering a small quantity of sheep's milk cheeses
as well. Visits and tours of the farm and milking operation are
welcome. Please contact Paul or Sharon or check their website to
place an order or to obtain more information about the farm.

At Veritas Farms we raise our Heritage
breed animals on open pasture, where they’re free to be warmed
by the sun and cooled by the gentle breezes of the Hudson Valley.
We take a sustainable, old fashioned approach to farming. We believe
it is our responsibility to work in harmony with the environment.
We are passionate about grass farming, and believe it is evident
in the flavorful and healthy meats and eggs we raise. Our customers
are invited to tour Veritas Farms.
Our animals are raised naturally and humanely.
We provide them with good food, give them room to roam, and let
them produce and reproduce with minimal human intervention. Our
laying flock is comprised of many different Heritage breeds of
chickens, resulting in differently colored and shaped eggs. For
meat, Heritage breed chickens are available year round, and Cornish
rock crosses raised on pasture are available seasonally. We also
raise two Heritage breeds of turkey, and Pekin
duck hatched from
eggs laid here at the farm.
Gloucestershire Old Spot and Large
Black pigs thrive outside on our pastures.
Our beef cattle
are Scottish Highland and Devon because they suit our land, environment,
and animal husbandry practices.
Our eggs, meat and vegetables are farm pickup
only. Please call or email for more details.

White Clover Sheep Farm is located in
the Western Fingerlakes area near Canandaigua Lake in Yates County,
NY. Our specialty is growing and finishing lambs on pasture
and pasture alone for custom butchering. Eating grass is the natural
way for sheep. At our farm the sheep are specifically selected to
thrive on forage. Our lambs are also guaranteed to be antibiotic-
and hormone free.
Lambs are grown for 5 to 6 months to a size
of 80 to 90 lbs and are custom butchered at a USDA inspected facility.
The meat is then cut to the customers' specifications, vacuum wrapped,
labeled and frozen. We sell single cuts as well as whole lambs (about
40 lbs.) and halves (about 20 lbs.). Please inquire about this year's
prices. Lambs can be picked up or delivered if the customer lives
in close proximity. We also ship.

a small (30 acre) farm practicing sustainable agriculture. We raise
around 500 all-natural pastured chickens available mid-June
through early October and a small number of turkeys available
at Thanksgiving. Poultry are ordered in advance.
Our animals are
given lots of space, sunshine, grass, fresh water, and non-medicated
feed in as natural an environment as possible. We do not use hormones
or antibiotics for our poultry. Our poultry processing is done
on farm, humanely with great attention to cleanliness and quality.
We also raise vegetables, herbs, and flowers without synthetic
pesticides, fertilizers or herbicides.
Our goal is to connect people with where their
food comes from and to emphasize the importance of environmental
stewardship. Please contact us to receive our newsletter and order

ZuZu
Petal's Farm strives to eliminate the gap between producer
and consumer. The farm offers pastured poultry, eggs from
pastured hens, grass-finished lamb and beef. Their
beef comes from Scottish Highland Cattle and their lamb from Jacobs
Sheep. Both are conservancy breeds, rare breeds that are facing
extinction.
The products are available at the farm and at
Ithaca's Farmer's Market in the summer and fall. We encourage our
customers to visit our farm and see how our animals are raised.
